OUR COMMUNITY
O
fficially opened to patients in 2013,
The AIS Cancer Center at SJCH
includes board-certified physi-
cians, top-notch technology and a soothing
atmosphere that truly evokes patient-centered,
compassionate care.
In recent years, data showed that 1 in 5 people
who needed cancer care were leaving Kern
County to get it—often to seek second opin-
ions and/or treatment at academic centers to
the south.
As a member of the UC Davis Cancer Care
Network, one of only 41 centers nationwide
recognized by the National Cancer Institute,
The AIS Cancer Center offers patients access to
clinical research and trials, and teleconferenc-
ing/built-in second opinions on cases with UC
Davis physicians and other network members.
Treatment options include the TrueBeam
linear accelerator technology, which is able to
precisely target tumors while sparing healthy
tissue. And the Phillips Ambient Experience
offers patients an anxiety-reducing option
with customized colored lights, relaxing music
and lifelike videos of beautiful destination
spots played during CT scans.
The AIS Cancer Center at SJCH helps
patients fight the battle against cancer
with a home-field advantage.
